Cheers to a Happy & Blossoming New Year!
By Lesley Newberry of StandTAL
Hi, StandTAL Friends!
Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes the perfect opportunity for renewal, growth, and fresh intentions. As we shake off the winter blues, let’s also clear the mental and emotional clutter that holds us back. In this blog, I’m sharing some powerful life lessons to help you spring forward—mind, body, and soul. Let’s step into this new season with clarity, purpose, and balance!

For years, I put everything and everyone ahead of myself: work, family, friends, and even strangers. I thought selflessness was a virtue, but I was running on empty. It wasn’t until I decided to prioritize myself that everything changed. And let me tell you—it wasn’t selfish. It was necessary.
These lessons didn’t come quickly, but they transformed my life. This is for you if you’re feeling drained, overwhelmed, or constantly giving without refilling your cup.
1. Boundaries Are Not Just Necessary They are Life-SavingSaying no used to make me feel guilty. But when I finally embraced boundaries, I realized they weren’t walls keeping people out. They were guardrails keeping me safe. Now, I protect my energy and only say YES to what truly aligns with me.
2. Rest Is Productive
We live in a world that glorifies being busy, but exhaustion isn’t a badge of honor. When I stopped wearing burnout like a trophy, I discovered that rest made me more creative, present, and powerful.
3. You Teach People How to Treat You
If you constantly overextend yourself, people will assume you are okay with it. The moment I started prioritizing my well-being, those around me adjusted. People respect your limits when you enforce them.
4. Investing in Yourself Pays the Best Dividends
I used to think self-care was indulgent. Now, I see it as an investment. Whether journaling, attending a retreat, or simply setting aside moments for yourself, the best returns come from the energy you pour into yourself.
5. Your Peace Is Worth More Than Their Approval
Not everyone will understand your journey, and that is okay. When I stopped seeking validation and started honoring what I needed, I felt a sense of freedom I didn’t know was possible.
6. You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup
Giving is beautiful, but not at your own cost. The more I prioritized my well-being, the more I had to give without resentment, exhaustion, or depletion.
7. Transformation Happens When You Step Away
One of my most significant turning points was stepping away from my daily routine and immersing myself in an environment that allowed me to reset. That is why I created StandTAL, where women can reconnect with themselves, set boundaries, and embrace self-care without guilt.
